Sparrow Hawk Village, founded in 1981, is located approximately seven miles northeast of Tahlequah off of Hwy 10. The serene wooded community is on one of the highest peaks in eastern Oklahoma and is surrounded on three sides by the Illinois River. This area of the state, "Green Country", is a favorite site for vacationers and river enthusiasts. Everyone who visits enjoys the peaceful, lush forests and hopes to catch glimpses of the abundant wildlife: deer, turkeys, song birds, rabbits and coyotes.
Imagine your dream home -- away from traffic, noise pollution, and hectic schedules -- built on one of the mountain or meadow view lots available for sale! Land that is for sale can be found on the Land for Sale page. Some existing homes are also available.
Sparrow Hawk Village is also home to Light of Christ Community Church. Established in 1981, the church is an esoteric interfaith church, and bases its teachings on the belief that we are all people of one God. The church had supported Sancta Sophia Seminary for many years until the school closed in 2012. Sunday services are now convened by the Fellowship of Sparrow Hawk Mountain. They welcome and embrace all who seek a greater understanding of themselves and God regardless of religion, race, color, creed, gender, or sexual orientation.
A retreat center, Center at Sparrow Hawk Mountain, has been created on the campus of the former seminary. Located in the Ozark Mountains of northeastern Oklahoma, the Center hosts conferences and retreats as well as weddings and other events. The new name, "Center", is deliberately both a verb and a noun. The facilities serve individuals and groups seeking inspiration in a peaceful and sacred environment. We invite you to learn more at the Center’s website: www.sparrowhawkmountain.org
